I'm stepping up against cancer!

Hi everyone, I hope you’re well. I’m grateful to be a part of the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life again this year, where all funds raised will go straight into education, support and research for those affected by cancer.

Cancer sucks. Its terrifying, scary and unpredictable. It is truly a heartbreaking disease. Tragically, over the past year, my aunty, who was in my nursing room when I was born, heard that her cancer - after undergoing endless rounds of chemotherapy - had come back, and it was terminal. For months she has had to live with this, getting weaker and weaker, and it’s been very hard for all of us. Physically. Emotionally. Mentally. We felt a sliver of the pain she does, and that is no way to live.

But, she - more than many - knows that we should fight for the things we love. I love her, so even if I can’t help my aunty now, I want to do my small part in helping other families fight back. And so can you. One by one we can tackle this together, for your loved one, your friend, your colleague, yourself.

So please, donate, spread awareness or join in yourself. Do what you can do to make a difference, because every effort counts. It truly does.

Hi everyone,

Firstly, thank you for your support so far in this Relay for Life event. Remember you are making a difference.

To put it bluntly, my dear aunty, my Aunty Maggie, passed away earlier today. And I just feel numb. Her other loved ones, after months of seeing her grow weaker and weaker feel numb. This feeling scares me. Its not right. This debilitating disease couldn’t even let us grieve properly.

We need to try and prevent this. Take strides so others don’t have to face such a horrible experience. And that’s why I’m doing this event. Why hundreds more are doing this event.
