UWA 2024

I'm stepping up against cancer!

This year, I’m taking on Relay For Life to raise funds for every person who’s ever heard the words: “you have cancer”. In 2024, more than 150, 000 Australians will receive the news. Among them are our friends, families and colleagues.

Cancer is a devastating disease for so many. For people living with cancer, their treatments can be long and stressful. For those without solutions, the future can be uncertain. It’s a concern shared by their loved ones.

But with your support, I hope to help as many people impacted by cancer as possible. Together, we can support families when they need it most, empower people to reduce their risk, speak up for communities, and find new ways to better detect and treat cancer.

Every step I take is one closer to a cancer free future. But I can’t do it alone! Please donate to my Relay today and together, we can help Cancer Council provide life-changing support services, advocacy, prevention and research across Australia.

Thank you for stepping up. Together we’ll make powerful strides against cancer!

So far this year I've helped provide:

961

Kids with a SunSmart education

23

Calls to trained cancer professionals on 13 11 20

My Updates

Wow I really did it!!

Well after 24hours and alot of going around and around a 200m course I finished with 57kms done and dusted!
I can’t thank everyone enough for their donations. There were a few times my body was hurting and I truly wanted to drive home but I know dad never had that choice the cancer just never let up so I made myself get back out there and do more laps.
Thanks for the messages and calls along the way it really did perk me up.
I’m not going to lie bed is calling I have some sleep to definitely catch up on and hopefully the old legs are a little lighter tomorrow.
From the bottom of my heart thank you.
Dad I hope you have a smile on your face you stubbornness certainly rubbed off 🫶

Almost half way

I’m almost half way and can say feeling slightly buggered. Will be ducking off for a sleep I reckon for an hour or 2 then back into it. I’ve done 37km and not doing too bad.
Such an incredible night the absolute best weather so very blessed.

The big day is here

I’m sitting in my camp chair watching everyone set up. Have had a breakfast of champions cereal and a bag of honey soy chips on the road 🤪15 minutes before we start. I’m a ball of emotions but will be looking up and hope dad is watching and having a laugh at me 😊

1 week to go

I’m getting excited and telling myself I can do this. I’m hoping  for no rain I can deal with the cold just no rain hehe. I hope dad is ready for me to be chatting to him along the way and reminding me of my why. I can’t thank everyone enough for donating it truly means the world.

First Fathers Day without you

Dad was a very simple man. Every birthday, Christmas or Fathers Day he’d just ask for a card or a call as “it was just another day” well today I won’t be able to call you but I’m looking up high and sending my love 🫶🫶🫶

My why

So when dad was getting his treatment he was very fortunate to stay at the free accommodation provided by the Cancer Council. These self contained units provided a home away from home and so close to the hospital that he could keep his sense of independence whilst going back and forth each day for chemo or radiation. I will be forever grateful that this was available for him and anyone else from the country.

Just do it !

I feel helpless, I’m an organizer a doer I get stuff done but I cant bring my dad back.
So as fate would have it I saw an ad for the Relay for Life and I’ve always wanted to give it a go. I’ve volunteered a few years back but haven’t actually walked for the Relay. So I’m going to pack myself up, get my country tunes cranking and hope to make some money for the Cancer Council along the way.
